Pyongyang Film Festival of the Non-Aligned and other Developing Countries which firstly took place under the ideal of Independence, Peace and Friendship makes 7th honorable annual ring. The 7th Pyongyang Film Festival of the Non-Aligned and other Developing Countries took place in Pyongyang, the capital of DPRK from September 13th to 21st in 2000. It attracted a big concern at home and abroad because it opened in the times when the century changes. Festival participants summed up the end of 20th century throughout their excellent films and exchanged their valuable success and experiences of film makers from different countries to their satisfaction, who seeks for the development of national films in hopeful 21st century. 61 delegations from 33 countries and 3 international missions attended in the festival and 81 films were submitted. The committee of the international jury, consisting of famous film makers from Cuba, Egypt, DPRK, Iran and Malaysia made a fair judgment on 16 feature films and 13 short films. As a result of judgment, Iranian Feature Film "The Lost Love" was awarded Gold Torch Prize, the best prize of the festival. Delegates and film makers from different countries esteemed their feelings of admiration and respect to President Kim Il Sung who had rendered an unprecedented and great achievement to the humankind and chairman Kim Jong Il who has been rendering distinguished merits to the world peace and independent cause of humankind. And they gave active support and solidarity to the struggle of our people who advance vigorously through thick and thin and carry forward the socialist construction and the cause of national reunification. Moreover, festival participants gave a letter of thanks to chairman Kim Jong Il with their unanimous minds, who bestowed favors on them to enjoy happy times without any inconvenience during their stay in Pyongyang and held the festival successfully amidst his busy times owing to the country affairs. The 7th Pyongyang Film Festival became a gathering of the international film makers which contributes to the national film development and building human culture of every countries by exchanging and cooperating between world film makers.
